Blues fire coach Payne, hire Hitchcock
The St. Louis Blues have fired head coach Davis Payne and replaced him with veteran bench boss Ken Hitchcock, the team announced on Sunday.
Hitchcock, who had been serving as a special advisor with the Columbus Blue Jackets, agreed to a contract with the Blues through the 2012-13 season. The 59-year-old has coached in 1,042 NHL games with the Stars, Flyers and Blue Jackets, compiling a record of 534-350-88-70.
