TORONTO -- Time ran out on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mike Knuble was the only player to score in a four-round shootout Tuesday as the Washington Capitals edged the Maple Leafs 3-2 on a night where Toronto saw its playoff push officially ended.
Even a victory wouldn't have kept the Maple Leafs alive because Buffalo beat Tampa 4-2 -- a result that was posted prior to the overtime session at Air Canada Centre.
It's the franchise-record sixth
